There is a profound sense of history and service whenever you walk through the doors of Austin VFW Post 1216, and last night's Business After Hours was no exception. It was a powerful evening that combined professional networking with a deep appreciation for the vital work our veterans do for the Austin community.
A Massive Impact: $55,000 for Austin
The highlight of the evening was learning about the incredible scale of the VFW’s local contributions. Last year alone, the Austin VFW raised an astounding $55,000 to support local initiatives. This funding stays right here in our community, supporting everything from youth programs to veteran assistance, proving that the VFW is truly a cornerstone of the Austin business and social ecosystem.
The VFW Auxiliary: Honoring Family Legacies
We also gained valuable insight into the VFW Auxiliary, a beautiful way for families to stay connected to the mission of service. Membership in the Auxiliary is a meaningful way to honor a loved one’s military legacy while giving back to Austin.
Who is eligible to join the VFW Auxiliary?
The Auxiliary is open to the following relatives of veterans who served overseas and earned a campaign medal:
- Spouses
- Parents and Grandparents
- Sisters and Brothers
- Children and Grandchildren (ages 16+)
