Keeping Workplaces Safe and Healthy

As of July 25, 2020, per the Governor's Executive Order 20-81, people in Minnesota are required to wear a face covering in all public indoor spaces and businesses, unless alone.
Additionally, workers are required to wear a face covering when working outdoors in situations where social distancing cannot be maintained. Research has shown that use of face coverings can greatly reduce the risk of infection when combined with other prevention efforts such as social distancing and hand hygiene.
For more information about face coverings and the Executive Order, please see the Frequently Asked Questions About the Requirement to Wear Face Coverings.
Face Covering Requirements and Recommendations under Executive Order 20-81

Businesses must update their COVID-19 Preparedness Plan to align with the requirements of Executive Order 20-81. Businesses must also communicate to workers and customers that face coverings must be worn when required by the Executive Order—meaning, when indoors, for both customers and workers, and also when outdoors for workers, when social distancing cannot be maintained—unless circumstances allow for the temporarily removal of the face covering. At a minimum, businesses must communicate face covering requirements by clearly posting signage in places that are visible to all workers, customers, and visitors. A best practice would be for businesses to notify customers about face covering requirements through communication while they are making reservations, appointments, or placing orders for pickup.

IMPORTANT: Austin Area Chamber would like to remind you that this mandate is out of the hands of our businesses. Whether we personally agree with masking or not, we can all agree that WE LOVE OUR TOWN & BUSINESSES. We can't imagine losing a single business and we want our town to rebound and return stronger. WE CAN make that happen. WE CAN support our businesses. WE CAN make a difference, and WE CAN avoid making this a punishment to our businesses. It is up to us to do what it takes to support our community. WE CAN mask when and where needed. WE CAN put our personal opinions regarding them aside in an effort to make this less complicated for our businesses and to continue to show support for our community.
