Be Loyal. Shop Local. Support Those Who Support Our Community....Chamber Members!
What three independently owned buinsesses would you miss if they disappeared? Stop in. Say hello. Pick up something that brings a smile. Your purchases are what keeps those businesses around.
If half the employed population spent $50 each month in locally owned independent businesses, it would generate more than $42.6 billion in revenue. Imagine the positive impact if 3/4 the employed population did that.
For every $100 spent in locally owned independent stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll, and other expenditures. If you spend that in a national chain, only $43 stays here. Spend it online and nothing comes home.
The number of people it takes to start the trend...you.
PICK 3. SPEND 50. SAVE YOUR LOCAL ECONOMY.

We encourage you to let people know you're committed to your community and ask that you include the campaign in your marketing efforts. Another way to contribute is by designating 10 percent of your annual membership dues or $25. This money will be used to further enhance marketing efforts for the Be Loyal. Shop Local., Buy Mower. Grow Mower! campaign. The Chamber currently spends about $16,000, each year, for the promotion and implementation of these programs.
The Austin Area Chamber of Commerce launched Buy Mower. Grow Mower! to raise public awareness, revitalize our area economy and create a better future for our entire community. We're not asking everyone to spend all their money in Mower County - that wouldn't be realistic. But we do believe it is important to ask everyone to consider switching back some of their spending to Mower County businesses. If we can even shift 10 percent of the current out-of-area purchases back to Mower County businesses, we are taking an active role in creating a stronger economy for everyone.
Our ultimate goal is to increase local purchases by $20 million or more. We'll do this by increasing public awareness about the advantages of buying from local businesses and promoting area businesses. We hope to not only improve the bottom line for these businesses, but also improve the local economy overall.

There is tremendous potential! New jobs will be created. Businesses will grow and prosper. New businesses will come to town. Our tax base will increase, providing more dollars for public services - roads, parks, schools, etc. - without a tax increase. More dollars will be available for charitable causes. The list goes on and on! The impact is tremendous!
